Private Eye Tests

A private eye test is an eye check you pay for yourself. It gives you a thorough exam and expert advice.

Perfect if you aren’t eligible for a free NHS test

NHS Eye Tests

A WGOS eye examination is a free or NHS funded sight test in Wales for eligible patients. It checks your vision and the health of your eyes, helps identify any problems early, and makes sure you get the right glasses or treatment if required.

Here is a list of who is eligible

Eye Examinations For Urgent Eye Problems

An WGOS 2 sight test is an NHS funded eye examination in Wales, for people experiencing urgent or acute eye problems.

Independent Prescribing

An independent prescribing optometrist is a fully qualified optometrist who has undergone specialist training and gained accreditation to prescribe medication for eye conditions. This means that if you visit and IP optometrist with an eye problem such as an infection, or inflammation, they can diagnose and prescribe the right treatment directly without needing to refer you elsewhere first. Having an independent prescriber in practice allows patients to get faster, more convenient care, especially for urgent eye concerns.

Contact Lens Fittings and Aftercare

A contact lens fitting is a specialist appointment where an optometrist helps you find the right contact lenses for your eyes. A contact lens aftercare is a follow up appointment after your contact lenses have been fitted. Regular aftercare is essential to keep your eyes healthy, your lenses comfortable and your vision sharp.

Low Vision Assessments

A WGOS low vision test is an NHS funded eye examination in Wales, for people whose vision cannot be fully corrected with regular glasses or contact lenses. This test is for people who has significant visual loss and needs specialist guidance and low vision aids to help patients make the most of their residual sight. We can sign post you to support groups and local agencies for additional help.

Local Pathways WGOS 4

A WGOS 4 medical retina appointment is an NHS funded eye check for patients with retinal conditions such as diabetic retinopathy or macula degeneration. Our optometrist with an additional medical retina qualification carefully monitors and manages these conditions, working closely with local eye hospitals. A WGOS 4 glaucoma is an NHS funded eye appointment in Wales for patients who have or at risk of developing glaucoma.

Customer Reviews

I had to have an emergency eye appointment and I was directed to this optician. They were absolutely wonderful from speaking to the receptionist to seeing the optician today. I was treated with such care and my worries about what was going on with my eyesight was put at ease. I would recommend them whole heartedly..

Brilliant service for us all as a family, but especially for my daughter who was really nervous of her first eye test. Rhian made it into a fun game and put her at ease immediately, and she loved her experience. Highly recommend
